A review of modelling methodologies for flood source area (FSA) identification

چکیده
Abstract Flooding is an important global hazard that causes average annual loss of over 40 billion USD and affects a population 250 million globally. The complex process flooding depends on spatial temporal factors such as weather patterns, topography, geomorphology. In urban environments where the landscape ever-changing, ground cover, green spaces, drainage systems have significant impact. Understanding source areas major impact is, therefore, crucial for strategic flood risk management (FRM). Although area (FSA) identification not new concept, its application only recently being applied in modelling research. Continuous improvements technology methodology related to models enabled this research move beyond traditional methods, that, recent years, projects looked affected recognised need address at source, study influence overall risk. These approaches are emerging field FRM propose innovative methodologies mitigation design implementation; however, they relatively under-examined. paper, we present review currently used identify FSAs, i.e. unit response (UFR) adaptation-driven (ADA). We highlight their potential use adaptive decision making outline key challenges adoption practises.

The use of flood risk map for flood management (urban area of Nekarood)
Flood is considered as a major threat among natural disasters in the world. This case becomes more important and has a higher risk in urban areas due to the existence of important uses. Therefore, to reduce damages resulted from flood, this phenomenon must be managed and planned using structural and non-structural approaches. Considering the development in Iran has been carried out in high risk...
متن کاملModelling variable source area dynamics in a CEAP watershed
In the Northeast US, saturation excess is the most dominant runoff process and locations of runoff source areas, typically called variable source areas (VSAs), are determined by the available soil water storage and the landscape topographic position. To predict runoff generated from VSAs some water quality models use the Soil Conservation Service Curve Number equation (SCS-CN), which assumes a ...
متن کاملA Protocol for Pollution Index, Source Identification, and Spatial Analysis of Heavy Metals in Top Soil
Introduction: This study aimed to assess a good protocol for the contamination indexes, concentration, spatial analysis, and source identification of toxic metals in top soils. Materials and Methods: In the first step, samples were taken from top soil (30 cm) and the metals were extracted and detected with ICP-AES. In the second step, Enrichment Factor, Geoaccumulation Index, and Contamination...
متن کاملProduction Constraints Modelling: A Tactical Review Approach
A constraint is a limitation or a restriction that poses a threat to the performance and efficiency of a system. This paper presented a tactical review approach to production constraints modeling. It discussed the theory of constraints (TOC) as a thinking process and continuous improvement strategy to curtail constraints in other to constantly increase the performance and efficiency of a system...
متن کاملA Unifying Framework for Situation Identification Methodologies
Situation identification methodologies in pervasive computing aim to abstract low level context data into more meaningful high level contexts for use by context-aware application developers and users. Many situation identification techniques have been developed and successfully applied to limited scenarios. It is not possible to apply a single technique to a wide range of diverse applications. ...
